Three years ago, I landed one of my longest-running freelance clients, Hospitality Vision, through a Craigslist ad. What started as a simple project quickly grew into an ongoing partnership, allowing me to contribute to their brand in meaningful and creative ways.
Our communication has always been straightforward—mostly through email, with the occasional text for quick updates. One of my first projects with them was creating content for the Corvallis Explorer app. The owner sent me directions and content via email, and by the end of the month, the app was launched. That initial project set the stage for many more, including flyers, business cards, ads, TV slideshow graphics, and even a few unique projects, like designing a chocolate bar wrapper—a fun and unexpected challenge.
Hospitality Vision was one of the first businesses where I had the opportunity to be directly involved in promoting a brand. I wasn’t just designing standalone graphics; I was helping shape the visual identity of their marketing efforts. It was a valuable experience that reinforced my passion for branding and design strategy.
Working with them has shown me how freelance opportunities can come from unexpected places. A simple Craigslist post led to years of collaboration, expanding both my skills and portfolio. It’s a reminder that sometimes, the best opportunities are just an email away.
